Hooray cherries are back in season and I am jumping for joy. I know frozen fruit has the same nutrients but they are not the same. Luckily the price has dropped dramatically and I was able to pick them up for a song.

Today we are off to the farmer's market where I will stuff myself with a fresh croissant and a lemonade infusion made to order. Then we will do the usual shopping and I will get apples for apple pie and tomatoes. Keep your fingers crossed that I can find green tomatoes. because I wants them. My precocious, precocious tomatoes. I am going to have a Lord of the Rings day next week. Hopefully my LOR humor translates or my last few sentences just seem grammatically incorrect.

Off to the Farmer's Market.

An artist who I love paints in bars so I thought I would give it a whirl. My boyfriend and I went to a spoken word event in a bar and we had a little time to kill so I drew this while he drank one of his favorite beers. I don't drink so we have only been to a bar twice in the 6 years that we have dated and it's only been in the past 6 months. He makes beer from scratch and loves to talk about politics.
I haven't had a drink since the 90's ( I think beer is gross) and I hate politics but I have a degree in International Relations (I was secretly an Anthropology major).

All and all a great night and if you like spoken word you know that it can be dicey at best. You will hit a bunch of great shows and then launch into a pocket of people who ramble and are talking about obscure items that no one can relate to.

Yesterday my mother, sister and I went to a museum to see quilts and then went to my favorite fabric store. I picked up a few yards and my mother found some fabrics for a baby quilt she is making. I'm not sure what we are doing today but a short trip to the mall may be fun.

Round Robin

I am one of 12 peple participating in a round robin hosted by Erin Kemp at www.erinkenepp.blogspot.com so this lovely journal will be going to the post office later today. I should have taken a picture of the envelope before I put the tape on it but I was in a hurry to make it water resistant. The local office supply store was out of single envelopes and then I bought the wrong size at the post office and had to go back to get a huge one and I just folded it over. Ta-da

The cover of the book is a smaller version of a big collage I did last month and the back is a piece of paper I made on the copier with the giant bag of starfish that live in the closet.

The circle card has information about the theme on the back. The theme is spring. I was going to make it the season but then that didn't make sense since 11 people have to get this journal and realistically it will not be Spring for 1/2 of it's journey. Not that it has to be Spring to think of Spring but I didn't want to be too limiting. So I opened it up to the noun and verb version of the word.

I think too much.

chicken fever

My mom is visitng so we are watching Episodes of Art 21 and making art when we aren't walking around the city. We both love collage and she made a fantasic collage about our Mother's day trip to the House of Blues. If you like folk art and you have a chance to go to the HOB you will love it.

I did draw 3 of these chicks today. I spent a lot of time working on the beak so it didn't look sad. I would love to have chickens and fresh eggs but that's as close to a farm I want to get, since I am a city girl through and through.
